Android privacy policy · Updated September 20, 2026

Your learning. Your choices.

This policy describes the Chinese 101 Android beta with subscriptions and optional advertising. Advertising availability depends on the build, region and account approval.

Information stored on your device

Your chosen name and character avatar, daily goal, learning history, saved position, theme, reward allowance and temporary lesson access are saved locally. Chinese 101 does not upload your learning history or profile to a developer server. There is no Chinese 101 login or cloud sync. Android backup is disabled for this version. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes local progress and rewarded access.

Purchases

Google Play handles subscription payments and stores your purchase information. The app checks purchase records and signatures to restore Premium, and caches a verified purchase locally for up to 24 hours of offline access. We do not receive your payment card number. Subscription records retained by Google are governed by Google’s policies.

Advertising and privacy choices

Ad-enabled free builds use Google AdMob and Google’s User Messaging Platform. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect or share your IP address (which can estimate general location), device and advertising identifiers, ad interactions and diagnostic/performance information for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. We do not provide your chosen profile name or learning history to the advertising SDK.

Where required, a consent form appears before ad requests. You can revisit available consent settings through “Ad privacy choices” on the membership screen. Consent refusal does not remove your free daily allowance. Ad availability and personalization depend on your choices and region. Premium suppresses ad requests and displays; previously collected information is subject to Google’s retention policies.

Rewarded ads are optional. A completed ad gives the stated extra practice or a 24-hour lesson pass. We save the reward and frequency caps on your device. Test builds use Google’s test ad units.

Read Google’s privacy policy and Google’s advertising information.

Website and support

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages and offers optional Google Analytics, described below. It does not display advertising. GitHub may process technical request logs under its privacy statement. When you email support, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use these to respond and improve Chinese 101; support messages are not published. Please do not send passwords or payment details.

Retention, deletion and contact

Local app data remains until you clear it or uninstall. Cancel subscriptions separately in Google Play; uninstalling does not cancel billing. For privacy questions or requests concerning support messages, contact the Chinese 101 project through our support page. Google and GitHub control retention of information they collect independently.

Audience and updates

This beta is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We will update this page when the app’s data practices change.

Interactive demos and feedback

The character and practice demos run in your browser using bundled app content. Demo progress is temporary and is not saved to the Android app. Search text stays in the demo and is not sent to Google Analytics. Audio plays only when you choose to listen.

The feedback form prepares an email to chinese@aulenor.com in your browser. It does not submit or save your message on a feedback server or send its contents to Google Analytics. Choose “Open email draft” to pass the message to your email app, then review and send it yourself. Your email provider and our mail service process the message for delivery. You can contact us to request deletion of support correspondence.

Website analytics and cookies

With your permission, this marketing website uses Google Analytics to measure page visits and interest in features, opened feature previews, plan information and beta details. The Google tag stays blocked until you choose “Allow analytics.” Declining leaves the website fully usable. We do not enable Google advertising signals or ad personalization on this website.

When enabled, Google receives technical device/browser information, an IP address used to derive approximate location, cookie identifiers, visited page paths and interactions. We remove query strings from the page address supplied in our configuration and do not send names, email addresses, purchase information or app learning history. Google processes analytics data under its privacy policy.

Your cookie choice is saved in your browser for up to 180 days. Use “Cookie choices” in the footer to change it at any time; declining after previously allowing analytics stops future collection and removes this site’s Analytics cookies. Clearing browser storage removes the saved choice. The Android app’s separate ad consent controls are described above.
